Welcome to the Seasonal Sew Wardrobe: Sleepwear Edition!

Good Morning!! Hope you are all having a lovely start to your day!
I am soooooooooooo excited to be your host for this Seasonal Sew Wardrobe all about sleepwear!

We decided to do a whole sew-along all about sleeping because I think a lot of us forget about sewing for sleeping; (at least I do!)

IT'S GOING TO BE SOOOO RELAXING!!!
Just think about all the soft fabrics and not really having to worry about fit - (possibly my favorite part.) Seriously though, this is going to be a relaxed sew along!

We are going to be sewing six (6) sleeping related items from June 1st to August 31st.

This sew along is great no matter which side of the hemisphere you sew from;
you can sew light and airy pajamas or warm and cozy ones!

SO WHAT CAN WE SEW?

  1. Pajamas (A pajama set; i.e. shirt and pants counts as two items)
  2. Nightgown
  3. Robe
  4. Sleeping Mask
  5. Pillowcase
  6. Slippers

TIMELINE?

The sew-along starts June 1st, 2016  and ends August 31st, 2016 at 11:59PM. (Central Time Zone)

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

All members of the Facebook Group Sew Alongs & Sewing Contests can participate.
Not a member? No problem CLICK HERE and ask to join! (You will need a Facebook account)

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

Sew six items from the list above! One of the items does need to be wearable on your person as a garment.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SEW?

You can make all the items listed above and have a complete sleepwear wardrobe or if you and/or your family are low on pajamas you can make enough to add up to six pieces or maybe you're getting a new dog so you are going to be prepared and sew five sets of slippers! (+ the required pajama.)

DO WE GET ANYTHING FOR FINISHING? LIKE PRIZES?

Oh YES we do! ..well someone will.

All the qualifying members will be entered into a random drawing for a prize pack! If you are the winner you get every one of these prizes!

Please click on the links and give our generous sponsors a look!

Random Drawing

HOW DO I QUALIFY?

Each participant needs to have an Album in the group photos tab for pictures of their finished items.
Please make sure the album title contains your name and "SSW:SE" (Seasonal Sew Wardrobe: Sleepwear Edition).
Step-By-Step directions for creating an album are detailed below.
Make sure photos of your wardrobe pieces are uploaded to your album by 11:59pm August 31st (Central Time Zone). You will need at least 6 pieces to qualify for the drawing.

WHAT PATTERNS DO I HAVE TO USE?

Any pattern you like; anything you have in your stash, anything you purchase, any tutorial or even a self draft will be great!

DOES THE WARDROBE HAVE TO BE FOR ME?

No, you can sew for someone else if you like!

DO ALL SIX PIECES HAVE TO BE FOR THE SAME PERSON?

Of course not! That's the fun thing about this Sew-Along! It can be for all different people.

If you are a family of three you could make a pajama set (shirt & shorts) for each member of your family and that qualifies!

CAN I ENTER SLEEPWEAR I'VE ALREADY SEWN?

You can only enter sleepwear that you have sewn between June 1st and August 31st to qualify.

WHAT IF I FINISH A UFO OR WIP?

If you finish a UFO or WIP that's sleepwear during the sew-along time frame, you can enter it.

HOW MANY SLEEPWEAR ITEMS DO I NEED TO SEW?

As many as you want, with a minimum of 6.

CAN I MAKE A WARDROBE OF PILLOWCASES?

No. Unless you can figure out a way to wear them to sleep. hahaha
But you can make 5 pillow cases and (example) a pair of sleeping pants and that would qualify. :)

I PREFER TO WEAR NIGHTGOWNS DO THEY COUNT?

Yes! Nightgowns totally count!

WHAT ABOUT A MATCHING SHIRT AND PANTS PAJAMA SET?

They count as well! Bonus...they count as two pieces! (Whereas a nightgown counts as one.)

HOW DO I CREATE AN ALBUM ON FACEBOOK?

NEED SOME ADDITIONAL HELP?

No problem! Comment below or post your question in the Sew Alongs & Sewing Contests Group page and tag Crystal Rice, Jewel McClellan and/or Judy Flatt O'Day. We would love to help!

In the next post I'll be sharing some inspiration and the SSW:SE buttons for your blog!

  4. Would a camisole and old fashioned knickers count as a p.j.?

    1. It depends...if the knickers are more like shorts or men's boxers then yes they would and as long as you are going to wear the camisole for sleeping I think it would be fine. :)

    2. Kim,

I just looked up "old fashioned knickers" and if you were planning on sewing them with the longer legs and higher waist then yes they will count! :)

  5. I'm excited for this sew along! I'll have to check and see what kinds of patterns I have for sleep wear but I was planning to make some pillowcases for the kids this month, so I'm glad those will count towards this!

  6. Thanks for hosting! What about sewing a sleep bra (like the Watson)? Something that's not intended to be worn outside of the house, but either to bed or for lounging around.
