Marigold Dress by Melly Sews {SSW16}

It feels so good to finally have another project for "Out & About" my Seasonal Sew Wardrobe collection with the Sew Alongs & Sewing Contests group done!

The Marigold pattern was also this month's monthly sew along.
The Marigold pattern comes with a dress option, just a skirt option and a peplum blouse. Every option has varying details to choose from.

Of course,  I had to sew the dress!

I May Have Found My Easter Outfit… {Testing: Nita Maxi Wrap Skirt bySewDIY}

Earlier in the morning before taking these photos I texted Tiffany stating "I could really use one of those mocha's you make." Later that evening, (still before taking these photos) Tiffany and Jeff came over and here she is holding this coffee cup in her hand. Initially, I thought that they had stopped at the the local coffee house but I couldn't figure out why the coffee house had put the cold mocha in a hot cup.
Until we were actually taking the photos did I realize that she had made it and brought it herself because I had asked! So sweet! (She didn't realize I hadn't put that together either. lol)

I'm so excited to share this skirt!!

Gathering Intel For The Cat Overalls {2016 Make Nine}

I've been researching for one of my 2016 Make Nine projects. The Cat overalls! (or dungarees)

The first thing I decided is they aren't going to be overalls but an overall dress. So a bib and a skirt rather then the connected pants. It'll be easier to fit and there's a much bigger chance that I'll actually wear them!
(A major thing to consider when you are planning sewing projects; Will I wear it?)

Samantha's Scrumptious Carrot Cake (made gluten free!)

The wheat version of this recipe was given to me (somewhat reluctantly) by our oldest sister Samantha. She makes the most AMAZING carrot cake. (Even if you HATE carrot cake, you have to admit there is something about hers.)

But alas, wheat and I are no longer friends. So I set out to make this cake free of gluten and dare I say... I think I succeeded??

Kiomi Dress in Everday Style by Lotta Jansdotter

Two things about this project make me excited!

First: it is knits month in the stashbusting group and this dress was made with a knit fabric!
(More on that later)
Second: this is the first project I've sewn from my new book Everyday Style by Lotta Jansdotter. Fran, a fellow member in the Sewalong & Sewing contests group, brought it to our attention and I thank her for doing that! I have a good feeling that the patterns in this book will get a lot of use!

When I received my copy of Everyday Style in the mail,  I started mulling over ideas for the various sewing projects that I now had access to, and asked Kimberly if there was a project she would like/wear.
One of them was the Kiomi Dress...excitedly I said, "Go find some fabric"!
I enjoy sewing for my sisters and I don't do it enough so I was happy to be able to get something stitched up for her!

Testing, Testing, 1 2 3 {Salamanca Cropped Jacket & Seville Skirt by Itch To Stitch Designs}

I had the honor of testing two of the four new pattern from Itch To Stitch Designs. The Salamanca Cropped Jacket and the Seville Skirt

The picture above right is the only good photo of the skirt that I got out of 18! It was not a good day to get pictures…apparently. ;)

Anyways…in celebration of the four new releases you can get a 20% discount on every pattern in the Itch To Stitch design store! Get the code and all the details on the Itch to Stitch blog HERE.

February Stashbusting Totals

February has been a strange sewing month… I've sewed a lot and I also bought a lot.

February was also sad as I found out my favorite fabric store Hancock Fabrics is closing. :(
I enjoy the shopping experience there so much…
I also had $80 worth of gift cards and after talking with the rest of the folks in the Stashbusting group on FaceBook we decided it would be best to use those up. Almost like a "free pass" to buy fabric.
I was very focused in my buying only buying the fabric that I loved (Black and white checkered) and two other fabrics for specific projects. (You can see them below)
