Sleeveless ...in 20 degree weather

We took these photos Wednesday evening and as I'm writing this post (Saturday morning) it is snowing!

You may think us crazy to take pictures in sleeveless outfits in 20 degree weather.

But straight out of the house and out of the wind it didn't feel too cold. Even so, we made sure not to waste time getting the pictures before going back in to warm up and get our coats. :)

The necklace was an "on the fly" DIY.  It's a long chain (without a clasp) so I used two safety pins to make it into a three chain necklace.

I'm so excited that I found an outfit that I can wear my dog tag with! Yes, it is a genuine medical ID dog tag. I wore it backward to make the obnoxious red medical alert symbol unnoticeable. :)

Thrift Store Score - Temporama Dishware

I was walking through our local thrift store and noticed this right away in the housewares area. I stared at it, trying to figure out how I could justify $9.99 on a 16 piece set of dinnerware. Considering, I have all the dinnerware I need with my Pfaltzgraff. 
This was/is so adorable! 

At that moment, I remembered. I had a $5 voucher from my punch card!  

I quickly handed TaMera some of the pieces and gathered up the rest. The dishes came out to be about $5.69. 

After telling Kimberly about my "problem" and showing her the dishes. She took a heavy weight off my shoulders and said "You can give it to me for Christmas or something." 

It may be my find, but it will one day be serving Kimberly's guests! :)

The dishes were made in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, by the Canonsburg Pottery Company. Canonsburg Pottery Company was originally called Canonsburg China Company 1900, but changed their name in 1909.  

The mid-century modern design is called Temporama. Interestingly, they are oven proof and detergent proof.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidociously Easy DIY Stationary

I'm going to show you a supercalifragilisticexpialidociously easy stationary! 

You need a few items that I'm sure you have around the house! 

You will need the following:

• 8 1/2" x 11" paper
• A stamp
• Washable colored markers
• Cutting board or scissors
• An Envelope - 3 5/8" x 6 1/2" or A2 invitation 4 3/8" x 5 3/4"

Step 1:

Cut your 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper, directly in half. (Making it 5 1/2" x 8 1/2")

Step 2:

Take your stamp and colored markers, begin to color on the lines of the stamp. 

Not in the lines but on the lines. 

I used pink for the top sherbet (2a), purple for the middle (2b) and of course brown for the cone (2c).

Make sure you get every single detail. What you don't color won't show up on the stationary.

After you have finished coloring your stamp, this next step is essential.

Step 3:

The "Ha" step. Breathe on your stamp as if you are fogging up a window. 

The markers dry while you are coloring the rest of the stamp. "Ha"ing on it ensures that the color will be moist and able to apply onto the paper.

Step 4:

Firmly press your stamp to the paper. 

And DONE! Repeat the process on the other piece of paper and envelope!

The left envelope is an A2 invitation, you fold the stationary in half.

The envelope is 3 5/8" x 6 1/2", you fold the stationary in a three-fold. 

The options are endless! You can use whatever stamp you have!

Thrift Store Score - Button Holder

A button holder. You really wouldn't think of this as a "score". But, I believe the things we can't imagine living without are the highest score you could ever get! Before, this jar; I was putting my buttons into a Christmas collectible M & M tin. Which was working fine, except it was a decorated tin, so I couldn't see the buttons I had. 

Browsing Pinterest, I had seen pins with clear jars being used as button holders. 
(Of course, with all the same color of buttons in them. In really life, does anybody, actually, have all the same color of buttons?)  
I came across this jar and knew it would work perfect, the mouth is wide, it seals well and it's fairly good size! 

Jars of buttons bring me joy!

Fall Roses

I have been reading about self-timer portraits and it has been intriguing me to try some! It's harder than I thought. I knew it was going to take practice and be difficult. Out of 65, I got 3 half-way decent ones...

One thing I noticed; I became like a statue waiting for the timer to go off.  Hello, extremely stiff person.

I had fun anyway! :)
