Garage Sale Score - Frigidaire Mini-Fridge

Caty and I had told TaMera and Emme that they could head on back down the hill to the car as we had stopped at all the garage sales.

They scampered away as Caty and I took it slow discussing the finds we had found on the hill.

As we passed a garage sale we had already stopped at; I noticed this fridge sitting on the edge of the driveway. I had overlooked it before.

After closer examination, I decided to take it because it was marked "FREE!!" Next to a note stating that the fridge did not work.  My Dad is a mechanic and it's amazing what he can fix!

I wish I could describe the faces of Emme and TaMera when we crested the hill and I was carrying a refrigerator!
They were priceless!

I brought it home, showed Dad and asked him to look at it when he had time.
I walked by later and heard it running.
"Wow, Dad what'd you do?" I asked as I stuck my hand in and felt the cool air inside.
His response..."I just plugged it in!"

And that's the story of how I got my free mini-fridge! :)

Garage Sale Scores - I Can Read Book: The Case of the Cat's Meow

Wow! I can't believe there are only two more Tuesday's left of August and Garage Sale Scores!

Today's Garage Sale Score is a children's book I read as a little one.

It's a comical mystery story built around a cat.

The characters (above, from left to right) are Wizard, Skinny, Tubby, & Snitch.
In our family, books and movies with magical references weren't encouraged so Wizard was changed to Wally. Snitch was considered a rude term so his name was changed to Scott.  However, my parents apparently saw nothing wrong with Tubby & Skinny because their names were left the same!

I don't want to say anymore and risk giving the story away, but this book makes a strong "case" to enjoy for years to come.

Have a happy day!

Garage Sale Scores - Vintage Tupperware Cream & Sugar Set

Yes, I know more Tupperware...but it was $1! How was I supposed to leave it there??

It bought back fond memories of being at my grandparents and eating cereal. Grandpa and Grandma W. kept their sugar on the table, in a sugar container just like these. When we had cereal we would dish it out with a spoon or Grandpa would pour it on for me. Good memories. :)

Because, I don't eat sugar on my cereal anymore...I'm thinking about putting them in the coffee corner I want to have in my house! :) They should match my Pfaltzgraff, too!

Garage Sale Scores - Bias Binding Bundle

One of my favorite finds from our garage sale-ing day was this bundle of bias binding!

For those of you who don't know, bias binding is another way to finish (bind) the edges of fabric. Such as armholes and necklines. (Just to name two ;))
You can see some at work in the top I made for 4th of July HERE.

The bundle included a wide variety of color, sizes and lengths. For a dollar I think it was a pretty good deal. Even though, some may be to short to do anything with...

My favorites are the pastels!! The lavender, powder pink, peach, sky blue, mint and yellow!?!?! Can I have an outfit of each color, please!

Garage Sale Scores // Orange Glasses

These glasses I found at a 50¢ garage sale. They were supposed to be 50¢ each but the lady gave them all to me for three dollars! Saving me 50¢! :)

My favorite color is orange so when I saw these orange flowered glasses I feel in love with them! Since they were in my price range, I didn't hesitate to buy them! :)

Garage Sale Scores // Pfaltzgraff Creamer Pitcher

We stopped at a 50 cent garage sale.
What a great and easy way to have a garage sale! Everything 50 cents except otherwise marked...of course. ;)

As I was scanning through the sale I saw something...could it be? Yes!! It was a Pfaltzgraff piece!

This Pfaltzgraff creamer pitcher was my only find at the 50 cent garage sale but TaMera has a find she will be sharing with you next week! :)

Smiles,

Garage Sale Scores // Vintage Pyrex Bowl

It's the premiere of a new mini-series!
Thrift Store Scores will be taking a short break and during it's absence Tuesday will be the new home of  Garage Sale Scores!

To start off this red hot mini-series is this Vintage Pyrex Bowl that is sure to please!

TaMera, Caty, Emme, (our cousins) and I had been out garage sale hopping all morning, it was lunchtime and we all agreed it was about the end of our shopping day. I forgot to mention it was also in the 90s...

We pulled up to a muti-family sale and started scouting... it was looking a little dissapointing, until we got to the back. There were some older looking pots, pans and such.

TaMera was the first to notice the vintage Pyrex bowls.

This red one was marked for a dollar! There was no question that this bowl was coming home with us!

Last year, while out thrifting, I found an entire set of this style of bowls for $50!?! Now that's a steep price for me to pay then. But how can you go wrong for a dollar??

TaMera and I haven't figured out who'll get the bowl, yet...I hope we find another one before that day comes! ;)
